ROAD DUST CONTROL

Road Dust Control is the application is a high purity grade of magnesium chloride which is a dust control and soil stabilization agent. It s a hygroscopic compound that attracts moisture from the air and resists evaporation. It binds the dust and aggregate to keep surfaces stable and dust free.
Factors such as temperature, humidity level, precipitation, and especially soil/aggregate type will impact the success or failure of the application. 

Magnesium Chloride is the least harmful of common dust suppressants to vegetation and groundwater according to independent studies conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

How and When is RDC Applied?

BF&S  has an application truck designed to apply RDC. Two applications of RDC may be required during the year to achieve season-long control under typical circumstances. The first application is made in May or June and the second application in August or September. More frequent applications may be necessary in high traffic areas, such as road construction detours.
